Is it bad that I have no precum?
January 20, 2008
I just read the column about the boy with lots of precum, but I don't have ONE DROP. I don't think it is too uncommon. I try not to let it worry me. Any input so to speak? I have no problem ejaculating, just no precum. Oh well. Isn't it nature's lubrication for the penis?
Actually, precum isn't lubricant for the penis (although it may work as lube for those with lots of it!). It's your body's way of cleaning traces of urine out of the urethra. Urine is slightly acidic and acidic solutions kill sperm. This in term lowers fertility--a bad thing for a species from a biological perspective. Human males naturally produce precum to neutralize the urine thus avoiding this problem.
Although the amount of precum varies from guy to guy, you probably actually do have some of it. It may simply not be enough to come out of the tip of your urethra. I, myself, have essentially no precum as well so I can relate to your situation. Fortunately for all of us, lots of men have different preferences on the amount of precum they like. No matter how much or how little you have, someone is going to think you make the perfect amount.
