Where can I get x-rated photos developed?

On your site I notice you frequently mentioning taking a roll or two of pictures. Where do you have hard stuff developed? I don't know that I want to walk into the one-hour place down the street.—Anonymous
I confess, I have them developed at my local supermarket, hehe! It takes an extra day, and they always come back with a sticker saying the two-day guarantee was voided. I strongly suspect they have a policy requiring a supervisor to sign off on any pictures involving sex. As a means of controlling child pornography, that is. I'm counting on them not making an extra set of prints for themselves.

But before you drop off your film, you should keep in mind that many businesses and chains have a policy against developing nude pictures or those involving sex. Accordingly, you may find your film is returned in the form of negatives without prints. Or worse - it may not be returned at all! If you are in doubt, call the business and ask them their policy.

More than likely, you're nervous about having those photos developed at any sort of drop-off center. In which case you may want to check out Convenient Photo, an online photo processing center specializing in adult pictures. Their prices are reasonable, and they offer same-day turnaround on all orders.

Oh, and make sure you don't drop off your film at a one-hour center, ok? They'll all be looking at you funny when you pick up your pictures, and frequently the machines display pictures as they print for the entire store to see.

Regardless of where you place your order, make sure you are not developing in pictures of any sort of illegal activity. Child pornography is the most obvious example, but a more important case would be pictures of men having sex in a country with sodomy laws. The pictures could be turned over to police and may lead to all sorts of unpleasant legal complications.—Aaron Lawrence

Most snapshooters don't realize how common it is for people to want to develop nude or even pornographic pictures. All but the most straight-laced couples take nude pictures of each other, and of course professional and art photographers take nude photos all the time. If you're unsure whether or not your local lab will handle nude photos, then just ring them and ask them, "What's your policy concerning nude or adult photos?" If for some reason they won't handle them (I'd be surprised) or you just don't want to call, then bring your photos to a professional lab. Nude photos flow through professional labs so frequently that your stuff won't even raise an eyebrow. (However, expect to pay more at a pro lab.) There are labs that specialize in processing adult material, but they aren't any more confidential or discrete than a pro lab, though since they frequently only do mail-order work, they may be cheaper.

Agreed. The rise of digital cameras has rendered obsolete much of the need for adult photo developing. It's much easier nowadays to buy a digital camera, plug it into your computer, and download the photos right onto there.
