What is causing pain in my dick after I orgasm?

January 19, 2008
I am 31 years old. I jerk off nearly every day. But, every so often, about once a week or so, after shooting a hot load, and about 20 minutes later, I get a terrible pain in the middle of my dick. It's like some acid was inside my shaft. I have dipped my dick in milk to soothe it down, and have used hot water. That makes me pee, and sometimes the pain goes away. Sometimes if I play with it, it will get semi-hard and that will make the pain go away. Frankly, it has done this for years, especially when I don't shoot a big load. So, does that mean the cum is still in there and now its eating away at the inside of my cock? Am I the only man alive who gets this lousy feeling? There's nothing worse than driving down the road, suddenly feeling the pain, and trying to stick your cock in a can of Pepsi to soothe it. What tips you have, and has anyone else has ever experienced this?—Anonymous
I have never heard of such a condition, but I don't have to speak to my medical consultant for this column to give you advice. You need to go see a urologist. If you see your primary care physician, he will almost certainly send you to a specialist (a urologist). You can save yourself the time by setting up the appointment to begin with. What you have is almost certainly not unique, and your doc will be able to learn what is going on with your body. Even better, he may be able to help eliminate the problem.—Aaron Lawrence

The guy who complained about having a pain in his dick after cumming may have a prostate infection. I had one for years without realizing it. Other signs are aches running down the inside of you legs from behind the scrotum, stinging after ejaculating, aches up and down the penis, even impotence. My doctor told me that it is an often diagnosed condition among men between 25-35, and is not transmitted to your partner. It may be hard to treat - I've been on and off antibiotics for two years. I also have been celibate after recently divorcing and have clean hygiene - and I am saying this because I think many people think you get infections from sleeping around or being dirty. This is not the case. I felt odd about seeing a urologist, but I am glad. I see progress, but there are setbacks too.

In response to the guy who sometimes has pain after cumming--this is quite common. If you wank hard pressing deep into the urethra then you can cause slight damage which will sting in contact with cum. I suggest the guy wanks with his fingers away from this area and see if it is ok (ie; on sides of his dick not on the front part where you can easily feel the urethra, or with fingers across and not digging into urethra).

An prostate infection is certainly one medical condition which could cause the problem. I'm certain there are others as well. One thing is for sure: if you regularly experience pain in your dick after sex, it's a good idea to see a urologist to check things out.
