What is the HIV rash?

January 21, 2008
One of your current responses talks about the "HIV Rash" and that it only happens once and does not reoccur. Can you please describe or explain what the "HIV Rash" is. How long after exposure? Where on body? How long does it last? How large does it get? What does it look like? I know that your not a doctor but I am looking only for some general answers. Thanks.—Anonymous
Sorry, there is no "one-rash-fits-all" answer. If you contract HIV, you may develop a generalized rash across your entire body. It may vary from an intense rash all the way down to a pale red. Expect it to occur a few days after infection occurs, although the actual time may vary.

If you'd like to see a few pictures of HIV-rash, try Google Images. It can come up with a number of pictures to give you a better idea what it looks like.—Aaron Lawrence
