How can I stop having erections whenever I am naked?

January 21, 2008
I get a hard-on at the drop of a hat when I'm naked, even when I'm alone. I love sports and would like to join a gym, but I can't handle the locker room situation. It's not that I get aroused seeing other guys in various stages of undress, it's just that I get hard so easily, especially in public places. (I'm even afraid of going to the doctor!)

I'm missing out on life because I'm petrified of popping a boner in front of people. I know this all sounds very adolescent, and it may be because I'm closeted and a virgin. Would just "getting it out of the way" and having a gay experience help me feel less frightened in the locker room?—Anonymous
Try jacking off before you go to your gym. Or if you prefer not doing that, take your shower at home and don't completely undress in front of everyone. Just take a pair of clean underwear into a bathroom stall after you work out, and change into that. Then wander back into the locker room in your underwear and get dressed the rest of the way.

As for whether a gay experience would help you feel less frightened, my guess is that it would help. It may not solve your entire erection issue, but is likely to remove a lot of anxiety from your life. Some people can't get hard when they’re nervous, while others becoming hard extremely easily. Locker rooms trigger some of that pent-up anxiety in you, and your fear of getting an erection makes you even more uncomfortable. Finding a sweet and caring guy and giving him your virginity may help reduce a lot of anxiety in your life.

Oh, and never be afraid of going to the doctor because you might get an erection. If it happens, just explain that you can't help it. He'll understand, and it won't bother him. You're hardly the only person like that. Besides, doctors like erections. Getting hard lets your doctor know your body is performing exactly like it is supposed to be.—Aaron Lawrence
