Is there such a thing as

January 19, 2008
This may sound like a stupid question, but here it goes. If there is such a thing as "mobile cruising" that is, from and between moving vehicles (cars/trucks, etc.), is there a practiced or generally accepted protocol? I mean is there a way to indicate to the other driver that you are interested on this boring and long interstate drive?—Anonymous
There certainly is mobile cruising, but it is neither common nor practical to do. Accordingly, there is no set of accepted standards on how to go about it. I suppose giving someone a smile, a wink, or the "poking the finger through the circle" motion with a nod may suffice, but it's unlikely your interest will be interested. Nor will you be able to say how, when, or where with any ease. My advice is to forget the mobile cruising and stop into a rest area for half an hour to pick someone up.—Aaron Lawrence
